What the role involves
- Patrolling the grid on rostered shifts, mostly alone or in a two-up unit.
- Traffic stops, licence checks and the paperwork that follows them.
- Responding to armed robberies, pursuits and sieges alongside Ambulance Melbourne.
- Interviewing suspects properly — charges are written up and stand on the record.
- Court appearances when a defence lawyer contests what you did.
- Training probationary constables once you have earned the rank to do it.
What we expect
Falling short is how people lose the whitelist.
- You lose gracefully. Being robbed, outdriven or outsmarted is content, not a defeat.
- You follow the standard operating procedures even when nobody is on to see it.
- You take direction from senior members on scene and raise disagreements afterwards.
- You keep the radio clear and the comms readable.
- You never use police tooling or information for anything outside the job.
How this application is handled
Submit
Answer everything in one sitting if you can. You cannot edit an application once it is in, so read it back first.
Review
Two members of the recruiting team read it independently. You hear back within 5 business days either way.
Interview
A 25-minute voice interview on Discord. Expect scenarios, not trivia — we want to hear how you think.
Outcome
Accepted, and you start with a mentor on your first shift. Declined, and you get the reason plus when you can apply again.
